That is a great deal. I have been to Maui several times and never stopped by. Yes, I am ashamed:( I'm coming by for two weeks in early August and will make it a point to come by on a Monday. The boneless k ribs sound perfect. See you then.

Shame, shame, shame on you Kaleiah for never coming to the Haliimaile General Store on one of your trips to Maui! Of course I am kidding (sort of) and hope to see you enjoying the ribs real soon! If you see me at the restaurant, please come over and say, "Hi!" and mention that we chatted on the blog!

Bev

I love the recipes you post on your blog -- not to prepare them, but to appreciate all the work YOU have to do to prepare them for me!

Your sashimi appetizer is one of the best things I've ever eaten.

Hope to return to the General Store sometime this summer.

Aloha Bon Goodword,

I must agree with you - the Sashimi Napoleon is out of this world - it has been a favorite of guests for years and folks literally travel across the globe to get it!

Now....bust out those pots and pans and try some of the recipes! Invite friends over and make a party out of it - send some photos of you and your guests enjoying some time in the kitchen and I'll post it on my blog!

Make sure to say, "Hi," if you make it to Hali'imaile this summer!

With warmest aloha,
Bev

I am very disappointed at how we were treated July 8 when we tried to dine at your restaurant. I am an off island homeower of a home in Wailea, visiting several times a year, often with guests and family. We enjoy good food and drive to where we would get good food and good service like Mama's Fish House. Everytime we are in Maui (3 to 4X a year) we treat our guests (specially first time Maui visitors) to a special dinner and we've always taken them to Mama's Fish House. A friend mentioned about Hali'imaile so we thought we'd try it coming from a sightseeing trip at the crater. We were a party of 6 and we were never ever treated so badly. I was very disappointed and embarrased to my guests of the incident. I guess we'll never know how good food really is at your restaurant. I return today from my 2 week vacation to the Bay Area with a miserable experience to share with all my friends of Hali'imaile General Store.

Aloha CecileH,

Thank you for taking the time to write to me and share your experience with my blog readers. Please know that I do not have to publish comments that come through, but I thought it was important to address yours in this public forum as there was no contact information left in your note: I was there on July 8 and personally tried to speak with you before you left the restaurant. After being offered a table that didn’t suit you, you walked out without giving us a chance to set things right. Please know that we begin each evening with a plan to assign tables based on reservations. It is true that you didn’t have a reservation and your party of 6 was offered a table we had assigned for walk-ins. My brand new manager offered you a table you didn’t care for and honestly, due to the strong sunlight shining on the table, it would have been unacceptable to me. I tried desperately on the front porch to make up for the misunderstanding, but you wouldn’t give me a chance to fix the situation. As the owner, I would have loved for you and your guests to come back in for dinner. I offered you any table in the restaurant and would have sent out a special treat from my kitchen to make up for any misunderstanding. The meal would have been superb and certainly an enjoyable experience for your guests. I do hope you will return to Haliimaile General Store and if not, that in your future dealings with restaurateurs that you will at least give folks an opportunity to fix any issue that dissatisfies you. No restaurant is perfect, yet my team and I strive every single day to offer the best in service and welcoming hospitality.

With warmest aloha,

Bev

This is what makes you so great, Bev. Is the special still running? The canned good for 1/2 price entree?
